Patterns I and Patterns II [13/02/22]

Patterns I

*****

Not moving (I’m stopped dead in my tracks)

Thirsting (where or what is the life-giving well?)

Nothing happens (just going through my routines)

Underground bulbs are pushing inexorably through cold soil

Here and there tips have appeared. Some even declare their ‘can do’

through full emergence; greeting stray rays of sun in winter’s stillness

This poem might be called ‘cyclical’, don’t you think? But it feels more like

patterns to me, so that’s settled it. Oh, go on. Pray - do tell, quickly!

Alright then, lest the zigzag of this poem induces nausea

Patterns of not moving, thirsting, nothing happening followed

by insights that illuminate the tangled strands of my consciousness

Clarifying, realising, energising, life-affirming – a big, bold shout of YES!

                                                                        *****

It makes my life worth living

this

and the hope to manifest the dream

someday, somehow

somewhere

Patterns II

The beauty of revelation –

The song of the blackbird at dusk

The priceless nature of insight –

The worth of a beloved person

The nourishment of realisation –

The river flowing fully and freely

***

Plucky robin watching now, ever hopeful –

It will be alright, trust me

Golden wheat gleaming in the sunlight –

The heat of a lover's embrace

Waves rolling to the shore, relentlessly –

My breath, rising and falling
